New thinking Consistent quality
GPS embraces new technologies and manufacturing methods that underpin its competitive advantage in build quality and cost.
Innovation and technology
GPS is an early adopter of new technologies and manufacturing methods. We incorporate the latest compact starters, variable speed drives and communications technologies to extract every incremental improvement in reliability, energy efficiency and data – which continues to drive down the cost of automation.
Our first innovation landmark goes back to 1992 with the introduction of the intelligent MCC to the UK regulated water sector. Since 2015 GPS has developed G-Flex, its proprietary modular steelwork, G-Builder, a unique MCC configurator, over 500 standard electrical designs, and DfMA for pre-engineered MCC plantrooms.
Standardisation and modularisation are driving some of the biggest improvements in ROI by maximising device density, minimising footprint and providing a high level of flexibility that allows equipment to be updated to keep pace with changing requirements and new technologies, as well as reducing time and cost using standard electrical schematics for starters incomers and feeders from Siemens Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley.
Design for manufacturing assembly significantly reduces the risk, complexity, and cost of on-site works with LV assemblies manufactured off site, delivered as packaged plantrooms that can be craned directly on to pre-constructed bases with pre-connected services.
We continually seek technology breakthroughs that push the boundaries of product performance while recognising that small improvements add up to big efficiencies for large scale motor operations.
Build quality
GPS operates a rigorous quality regime underwritten by type testing and independent accreditation.
All our products are fully compliant with BS EN 61439.
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001-2015.
We hold extensive certification including short circuit withstand to 20kA/1sec, 50kA/1sec and 80kA/1sec, ingress protection to IP65 and temperature rise to 5000A.
Electrical testing and build control checks are carried out at every stage from sub-assembly to final commissioning, and we operate a dedicated FAT test unit.
We have also invested in our own temperature rise facilities to prove our designs and provide certainty for our customers.
