GPS Group has been awarded contracts worth £1.1 million by Black & Veatch to provide process control systems and software for two new water treatment plants under construction for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water at Dolbenmaen and Llyn Conway in North Wales.
GPS will supply low voltage switchgear, MCCs and PLC / SCADA systems and software which will be linked to the business enterprise system, along with a series of functional control panels to provide a fully automated treatment process at both sites.
Both projects will replace plants originally built in the early 1960’s that have reached the end of their design life. The new plants include gravity filtration treatment processes and treated water storage reservoirs. At Dolbenmaen a pipeline from Cwmystradllyn Lake will transfer raw water that will also feed a hydro turbine to supply electricity to the works.
GPS has provided control solutions for Dwr Cymru Welsh Water for more than 20 years, the latest contracts via Black & Veatch are part of the company’s £1.5 billion AMP5 investment programme 2010-2015.
