GPS is proud to have achieved UKAS accredited certification for ISO 45001 – 2018 Occupational Health and Safety, a significant upgrade from 18001 and a much better companion to ISO 9001 where OH&S and quality for safety work hand in hand.

We like 45001’s clear priorities in terms of prevention, improvement and change management and better connectivity between legislation, risk and objective planning. 45001 not only strengthens GPS’s management system it expands safety culture through wider engagement of the workforce in hazard identification and direct involvement in designing out risk from work processes.

It also significantly extends the scope of wellness and wellbeing, particularly mental health, with consultation resulting in policy making and training around how to spot early symptoms of fatigue and stress amongst co-workers, and signposting resources.

In addition to the OH&S management system GPS has expanded its IOSH training and now has ten qualified staff.

GPS Managing Director Nigel Harrison said “45001 has made a big difference to how we think about safety and wellbeing, and how we manage it, it's created a much more inclusive process and sits at the center of our integrated standards, after being re-certified for ISO 9001 and 14001. ”
